Modernizing Bahrain TV’s Media Archive

Qvest modernized Bahrain TV’s media archive on behalf of the Ministry of Information in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The project in Isa Town introduced a scalable Media Asset Management (MAM) platform, high-performance storage, and integrated workflows - all implemented during ongoing operations. Bahrain TV recognized an opportunity to modernize its media operations to better handle growing volumes of content while ensuring fast, reliable access. The goal was to streamline workflows, enhance collaboration, and establish a scalable foundation for future growth - without disrupting ongoing broadcast operations.

Acting as the central technology partner, Qvest delivered full system integration, migration, and implementation. The project brought together Media Asset Management, storage modernization, and workflow orchestration into a cohesive platform built around Avid MediaCentral, connecting ingest, archive, editing, and retrieval in a unified system.

The new setup improves efficiency, supports Arabic-language production requirements, and enables long-term scalability. A carefully planned rollout ensured the transition took place during live operations, maintaining uninterrupted broadcasting throughout.

Challenge: Modernize without stopping operations

Bahrain TV aimed to transform its archive infrastructure to better manage increasing content volumes while maintaining fast, reliable access. Legacy systems limited scalability and made workflows and collaboration less efficient.

At the same time, the modernization needed to be implemented without interrupting live broadcast operations and had to meet regional requirements, including full support for Arabic metadata.

Qvest designed and implemented a unified media workflow platform centered around AvidMediaCentral. The solution integrates ingest, asset management, archiving, and editing into one seamless environment.

A comprehensive migration strategy ensured a smooth transition, including metadata migration and integration with existing systems - without disrupting live production. By consolidating previously fragmented processes into an MAM-controlled architecture, Qvest created a structured, scalable, and efficient media ecosystem.

Workflow: Built for local teams and daily speed

The new environment connects Avid MediaCentral, Telestream Kumulate, and Spectra Logic storage into a coordinated workflow. Content flows efficiently from ingest through processing to archive and retrieval, supported by automated transcoding, archiving, and restore processes.

Editors access media directly via integrated tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, while Avid NEXIS storage enables high-performance, concurrent collaboration. Advanced search functions and partial restore capabilities allow teams to quickly locate, access, and reuse content - significantly accelerating editorial workflows.
